We Need Some Space Please

Everyone once in a while, I find myself being a spokeswoman for the younger generation. This is one such occasion.   For everyone’s (theirs and ours) peace of mind, balance is key. Stay safe! Continue reading We Need Some Space Please

Should The Source Matter?

Don’t be in too much of a hurry to breathe a sigh of relief because your child doesn’t demand money from you. It would be expedient to know the source of the things they own and how they sustain themselves and their lifestyle. Do you give them pocket money? Do they work or have side hustles? Unfortunately, some people have buckled under economic, financial and peer pressure leading them into different types of questionable money-making ventures – gambling, trading sexual favors, yahoo plus, plugging drugs for cash… To avoid any “shocks” please ask questions. New Book Alert!

Can parents really afford not to talk to their children about sex? A couple of days ago, a story broke on social media about 2 young guys (in their 20’s) who allegedly drugged a 23-year-old girl, raped and videoed the act. #WWWOPK E4 – Parents…Children…Career Choices

It would appear that parents are getting more liberal about allowing their children follow their passion and choose careers that make them happy as against more traditional career paths. What We Wish Our Parents Knew

As some of you may already know, RAVE (the organization that powers this blog) has over the past few years been conducting anonymous surveys among teenagers & emerging adults (ages 13 to about 22) on various issues they wish they could discuss with their parents but for one reason or the other, have not been able to do so. While a lot of the responses have been quite eye-opening, about 86% of the respondents said they didn’t bother discussing the issues with their parents because their mum or dad either felt awkward about having certain conversations, was overdramatic, overly spiritual … Continue reading What We Wish Our Parents Knew

Fostering The Father-Daughter Relationship

The quality of a father-daughter relationship plays a vital role in her journey to adulthood and influences her outlook to life generally. How a father treats his daughter usually has an effect on her relationship with other men throughout her teenage and adult life. A daughter looks to her father for affection, respect, and affirmation. Where she gets this in healthy doses from an early age, she will usually expect the same type of treatment from other males in her life and it highly unlikely that she would tolerate men who treat her disrespectfully or abusively. If, on the other hand, she … Continue reading Fostering The Father-Daughter Relationship
